Afghan Telecom was established on September 13, 2005, as a fully operational telecommunications company. From its inception, Afghan Telecom became the only company providing nationwide services, including Salaam GSM/3G mobile services, fiber optic services, digital landline phone services, DSL internet services, WiMAX internet services, dial-up internet services, and VCN services.
Additionally, Afghan Telecom is the sole telecommunications company providing a network for all government offices, including ministries and other government departments, offering voice communication, internet, and video conferencing facilities. The company's telecommunications activities have been approved by the Ministry of Communications of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Afghan Telecom covers 155 cities, both large and small, across 34 provinces and is set to soon extend its services to all 355 districts of the country.
