Job Description:
The Kitchen Gardening Trainer (Female) will be responsible for training and supporting women in the community to develop and maintain small-scale kitchen gardens. She will educate beneficiaries on sustainable gardening techniques, water management, composting, and the nutritional benefits of homegrown vegetables. The trainer will also ensure that all activities align with PIN's gender-sensitive and inclusive programming approach.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Training & Capacity Building:
Conduct practical training sessions on kitchen gardening techniques, including soil preparation, seed selection, planting, irrigation, and organic pest control.
Educate beneficiaries on climate-resilient and water-efficient gardening methods.
Provide guidance on composting and organic fertilizer use to improve soil fertility.
Demonstrate proper harvesting and post-harvest storage techniques to minimize waste.
Encouraging beneficiaries for selling their products in the local market and using for the household level needs
2. Community Engagement & Awareness:
Mobilize and engage women beneficiaries in establishing and maintaining kitchen gardens.
Promote nutrition awareness, emphasizing the importance of homegrown vegetables for household food security.
Encourage to use the provided seeds for the kitchen gardening.
3. Monitoring & Support:
Conduct regular follow-up visits to assess garden progress and provide technical support.
Identify challenges faced by beneficiaries and suggest practical solutions.
Keep records of training sessions, participant progress, and harvest outcomes.
4. Compliance & Safeguarding:
Ensure all activities adhere to PIN’s policies on Gender Equality, GBV Prevention, Child Safeguarding, and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse).
Respect cultural sensitivities and ensure a safe and inclusive training environment for all participants.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports on training activities and impact.
Document success stories and lessons learned from the field.
Job Requirements:
Diploma or certification in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field (preferred).
Experience in kitchen gardening, agriculture extension, or community training.
Technical skills:
Strong communication skills, especially in working with women and vulnerable communities.
Knowledge of climate-smart gardening and organic farming is an advantage.
Ability to travel to rural areas and conduct field visits.
