Job Description:

Arrange and conduct feasibility studies, surveys, and needs assessments for ongoing programs. Actively participate as a key member of assessment teams to gather relevant data.

Prepare agricultural and livestock manuals and training materials that align with program objectives.

Lead, manage, develop, implement programmatic technical activities, providing technical input for baseline surveys, market surveys, and value chain studies.

Maintain a thorough understanding of program implementation approaches, project cycles, work plans, log frames, and key performance indicators.

Provide technical input for designing and developing feasibility study assessment and survey tools.

Conduct and collect meteorological environmental data, calculating crop water requirements for irrigation systems.

Identify traditional water distribution and allocation systems and introduce improved methods to enhance irrigation efficiency.

Develop capacity-building materials and deliver training courses on various irrigation and agriculture topics.

Introduce pistachio plantation practices, including land preparation, sapling selection, and pest and disease management.

Demonstrate harvesting techniques, including timing, sorting, grading, packing, storage, and transportation.

Train farmers in pest and disease management strategies to minimize post-harvest losses.

Engage with local authorities, line departments, community organizations, and businesses to enhance visibility and support for agricultural programs.

Boost field staff capacity in administrative management, new technologies, practices, and marketing information.

Ensure all program activities adhere to organizational policies and donor requirements, conducting internal audits for compliance.

Prepare and submit regular cash-food requests based on participant attendance, monitoring distribution for timely delivery.

Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to tailor activities that effectively address community needs.

Organize community awareness sessions to promote agricultural initiatives and training opportunities.

Actively involve farmers and community leaders in program planning and implementation, seeking their input and feedback.

Regularly assess team dynamics, address conflicts, and facilitate discussions to ensure a positive working environment.

Work closely with finance and administration teams to manage budgetary allocations for training activities and cash-food distributions.

Supervise and mentor agriculture and livestock trainers, as well as the Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Community Mobilizer and support staff.

Oversee logistics and transportation needs for project staff and activities, collaborating with the logistics team.

Monitor and manage inventory levels of supplies and equipment for training activities.

Ensure effective use of project budgets by monitoring expenditures and aligning with project goals.

Identify individual training and development needs for each team member, facilitating access to resources for growth.

Ensure effective communication and coordination with project staff and stakeholders throughout all program phases.

Propose new ideas to increase project efficiency and adapt strategies as needed.

Compile and submit comprehensive weekly and monthly progress reports to management and donors, highlighting achievements and challenges.

Undertake other duties as assigned by the Program Manager to contribute to the overall success of the program.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agricultural education, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.

Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in managing and implementing agricultural training and programs, demonstrating a strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective teaching methodologies.

Proven track record in developing and executing training curricula that align with local agricultural market needs and enhance participants’ employability in the sector.

Experience in market linkage activities, emphasizing the ability to connect training participants with job opportunities, agricultural markets, or entrepreneurial resources.

Experience working with NGOs or INGOs is preferred, showcasing familiarity with non-profit environments, donor relations, and compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations in accessing agricultural training and employment opportunities, with a focus on improving livelihoods and food security.

Experience working with diverse communities, respecting local customs, and building trust and rapport.
